Kathleen is the Professional Liability Manager for Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces and regularly collaborates with Helen Dias, her trusted underwriting colleague. Kathleen believes that building strong business ties with her broker-partners and providing them with exemplary service is the key to her team’s success.
Over the past 27 years, Kathleen has acquired a diverse insurance background involving different segments of the industry, including claims adjusting, brokerage, risk management and underwriting. This gives her a unique perspective of the insurance industry.
Kathleen’s first foray into insurance was with Minet, a large international broker specializing in professional liability insurance for law firms across Canada and the U.S. Having developed a real taste for PL insurance, Kathleen transitioned to PL underwriting at AXA Assurances, including D&O and crime insurance, as well as financial institutions bonds. Later, her diverse insurance background and bilingualism made her a valuable addition to a team of risk management professionals where she oversaw the insurance portfolios of several large financial institutions such as Laurentian Bank, the National Bank and AXA Assurances. In 1998, Kathleen decided to try her hand at claims adjusting, thus deepening her understanding of key policy wordings, including E&O and D&O wordings. Later positions saw Kathleen returning to her true passion: underwriting.
Kathleen’s credentials extend beyond her experience: she attained a B.A., History and Political Science at McGill University and then went on to complete McGill Law Faculty’s National Program in 1990, obtaining both a Civil and Common law degree. She later also attained her Quebec broker’s license, as well as a license in claims adjusting, not to mention numerous insurance courses. Kathleen has been a member of the Insurance Institute of Canada since 1991 and is a member of PLUS, attending their annual PL Conferences and seminars. Kathleen also contributed to an E&O article in the summer 2017 edition of ChADPresse.
Kathleen is an avid runner. She is especially proud of her 6th place finish at Montreal’s 2017 half-marathon. She also enjoys hiking in the woods with her husband and son.
